Leonard - Women's Spring/Summer 2019 Collection in Paris (with interview)

Designer: Christine PhungInspiration: The Leonard lady travels to meet Maasai women. A new wardrobe which mixes exoticism and modernity, through detailed work on colours and prints, as well as through new and old creations with some issued from the archives of the fashion house.Collection: An urban collection with a landscape printed jumpsuit opening the show. Brocade shorts in new volumes worn with unzipped sleeveless jackets. Another print in an animal style plays the safari card, seen on a safari jacket and on skirts made to resemble the necklaces worn by the Maasai women.Deeper tones for sensual flowing dresses with low necklines and big slits.Note: The last few models wearing light prints to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the fashion house + platform shoes.Interview with Christine Phung:The idea was to create a collection that tells a story that will remain, and through this I managed to create prints that look different but finally add rhythm, differences and contrasts to a collection. This year we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Léonard brand, and so we have reissued a print from our archives that we have recolored and which will be shown at the end, along with 7 anniversary looks. At the beginning of the show I have a print which resembles a savannah landscape painted by hand, that is very beautiful and green. It is an exclusive print that was in the fashion house but had never been published. The idea is to create an effortless, feminine and functional wardrobe, for cocktail parties and for the daytime, with a contrast of the two for the modern, contemporary women of today.
