Antonio Marras - Menswear Autumn/Winter 2014/2015 Show in Milan (with interview)

Antonio Marras marks his return to the world of men’s fashion with a collection dedicated to his father. For the occasion, the Sardinian designer delves into his personal archives in search of fabrics, originally from his family boutique, which he specifically uses to recreate his father’s profile, executed by hand in a patchwork on t-shirts and white shirts. These old materials, from numerous countries, are reworked at Antonio Marras’s request and used on clothes in different ways and thanks to new techniques, they even seamlessly combine with one another, notably on pea coats. A complete wardrobe equipped with drawstring trousers, a cardigan, jacket and coat for a silhouette worked down to the most minor details, unleashing true contemporary elegance.Interview:Antonio Marras:I always said that when I came back to do a menswear collection, I would dedicate it to my father. It is a simple, normal and natural idea because he owned an Italian boutique of fabrics and I have managed to maintain some of my father’s materials. So, I delved into my archives, I chose little samples of fabrics and I reworked them. With the same materials, we made shirts, trousers and pea coats to create the same sense but with different weights. This here is the same fabric, it starts with fur. There is something called ‘Aguliato’ and then, you can see that it becomes another material and then again it becomes yet another. This really is a very modern and very strong technique that can be used on fabrics and also on wool. This is an image of my father that we have reworked and it is all done by hand, by cutting up fabrics. It is like a hand-made patchwork. We redrew this image and these are the old bits of materials that were cut to remake it.Music from the show
