Amsterdam-based skate label Pop Trading Company will open in London for the first time on Friday with a week-long pop-up shop to showcase its new SS18 collection.

It will be downstairs in the Other Shop space on Berwick Street until May 4, a strong location given its proximity to Carnaby Street and Soho’s reputation as a magnet for indie and sport-inspired brands.

The pop-up will also feature a photography exhibition and a collaboration collection with cult skateboard specialist Wayward London.

That collection will include a traditional T-shirt, a long-sleeved tee, a Hawaiian shirt, swim short, flexfoam cap and, of course, a skateboard.

The pieces were inspired by beaches in the Netherlands and the UK and reference local sea creatures, as well as coral and the colours of the ocean and shoreline.

The marketing behind the new pop-up and collection will include a London docklands skate event and an East London pub quiz at Bardens, as well as a closing night party.

Pop Trading founder Peter Kolks told Hypebeast: “The skate scene in London is thriving so it’s the ideal place to run our events and launch the collaboration with Wayward London. We are stoked to host the pop-up within our good friends at Other Shop’s space, which is an amazing environment to show the collection, and the perfect location in the heart of Soho.”
